The best places in the UK for a Christmas market lodge break

Sarah Christopher 10 November 2025

There’s something special about winter in the UK; crisp mornings, quiet countryside, and towns coming to life with twinkling lights and the scent of mulled wine. Christmas markets bring together everything we love about the season: good food, craft, community and a sense of celebration that cuts through the cold weather.

Christmas markets are the perfect excuse for a winter escape. Spend the day wandering through festive stalls, then head back to a cosy lodge nearby - somewhere you can warm up by the fire, cook something comforting and watch the evening settle in. Whether it’s a romantic lodge for the weekend or a slow few days away, winter lodge breaks offer a different kind of rhythm.

From historic cities to market towns and country estates, some of the UK’s best Christmas markets sit within easy reach of our peaceful lodges and rural hideaways. Here are a few of our favourite Christmas markets and nearby lodges where you can soak up the festive atmosphere by day and unwind in quiet comfort by night.
