The Cotswolds has always drawn visitors, but lately it’s gained a new kind of attention. Discreet celebrity homes, headline-making TV shows and well-known filming locations have turned this classic countryside destination into a quiet hotspot for famous faces.
From Clarkson’s Farm to red-carpet names spotted in quaint Cotswolds pubs, this guide highlights where celebrities have been seen, where popular shows are filmed, and how to explore the area yourself.
Staying at Bluewood Lodges puts you right in the heart of it. It’s a relaxed base for discovering the Cotswolds while keeping the crowds at arm’s length.
The Chipping Norton set

Often described as the celebrity capital of the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton sits at the heart of one of the UK’s most famous rural postcodes. Long associated with politicians, media figures and creatives, it’s best known today as the hub closest to Clarkson’s Farm, filmed around nearby Chadlington.
Jeremy Clarkson is the most visible name in the area, but he’s far from the only one. David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and Elizabeth Hurley are all known to spend time locally, drawn by the privacy, strong food scene and easy access to open countryside. As locals will happily confirm, spotting a familiar face in town has become surprisingly normal.
To increase your chances of bumping into someone famous, explore the independent shops around the high street, or catch a performance at Chipping Norton Theatre, where the bar doubles up as a local for visiting performers.
Visit The Bull in Chalbury

Just outside Chipping Norton, The Bull in Charlbury has quietly cemented its status as one of the Cotswolds’ most reliable celebrity haunts. This beautifully restored 16th-century pub has drawn in Jack Whitehall, Robbie Williams, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, alongside a steady stream of media figures, creatives and countryside A-listers.
The pub's appeal lies in its confident, unfussy excellence, offering seasonal British dishes, alongside oysters and a seriously tempting wine and cocktail list, all delivered in a setting where celebrity spotting feels entirely incidental.
Good to know:
- Address: Sheep Street, Charlbury, Chipping Norton OX7 3RR
- Parking: Lots of car parks in Charlbury, just a short walk to the pub
- Average meal cost: Around £30–£40 per head for a main and drink
Chadlington and Diddly Squat: Clarkson’s Farm cast

Made instantly recognisable by Clarkson’s Farm, Chadlington and the surrounding villages have become one of the most talked-about rural areas in the UK. The series shines a light on real working countryside life, and while the show is carefully edited, the landscape is very much the real thing.
Visitors often head to the area hoping to spot filming locations or catch a glimpse of Clarkson himself, but it’s also an excellent place for walking, cycling and slow days exploring small villages.
There are also plenty of walks around the local Cotswold countryside that feature heavily in Clarkson’s filming. However, filming doesn’t happen constantly, and discretion goes a long way; locals – including celebrities – value privacy here, which is part of the Cotswolds' appeal.
Diddly Squat Farm Shop
Thanks to Clarkson’s Farm, Diddly Squat Farm Shop has become one of the most popular destinations in the Cotswolds. Opened by Jeremy, this rustic farm shop sells produce straight from the land, from ‘Cow Juice’ milk and honey to chilli chutneys and jars of rapeseed oil, all alongside the Hawkstone beer and cider that Clarkson himself champions.
It’s a honey-pot for visitors hoping to catch a glimpse of the show’s cast, including co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Gerald. With the Big View Cafe on-site and plenty of outdoor space, it’s become as much a social stop as a shop. Just be prepared to queue.
Good to know:
- Address: 5–12 Chipping Norton Road, Chadlington, OX7 3PE
- Parking: On-site car park (best to arrive early in peak season)
- Opening: Typically, Wednesday–Sunday 9.30am–4.30pm (seasonal)
Burford, Estelle Manor and A-list visitors

The Cotswolds has long attracted celebrities, but interest surged again recently when Kim Kardashian and Lewis Hamilton were reported to have stayed at the uber-luxurious country retreat, Estelle Manor. Almost overnight, searches for Cotswolds holidays spiked dramatically, affirming the region’s status as Britain’s most glamorous countryside escape.
Kim Kardashian joins a growing list of high-profile visitors said to have holidayed here, including Beyonce, Kamala Harris and Dua Lipa. While celebrity sightings are never guaranteed, certain towns tend to attract more attention than others, and Burford is firmly in that mix.
Situated just a short drive from Estelle Manor, its sloping high street, lined with independent boutiques, antiques shops and traditional pubs, has become a celebrity hot spot in recent years. Just along the road, The Farmer's Dog, owned by Jeremy Clarkson, has become a big draw too; the Clarkson’s Farm cast are regularly seen in the area, and high-profile names such as Ellen DeGeneres, Prue Leith and Amanda Holden have all reportedly dropped by.
Wander the high street
If you’re planning a star-spotting-inspired day out, start with a wander down Burford’s high street; it’s ideal for antique hunting and coffee stops before booking lunch at The Farmer’s Dog for a relaxed, countryside pub atmosphere with serious people-watching potential.

Bourton-on-the-Water: For film crews and famous faces

Often dubbed the Venice of the Cotswolds, Bourton-on-the-Water has long been a favourite filming location thanks to its low stone bridges, river setting and unmistakable village views.
It’s appeared on screen in everything from big-budget films to music videos, most notably featuring in Oasis’ ‘I’m Outta Time’ video; a fittingly nostalgic backdrop for the band’s reflective late-era release. And it has been recently rumoured that Liam Gallagher will be relocating to the Cotswolds soon too – perhaps this video was the catalyst!
It’s not unusual to hear talk of actors, musicians or media figures passing through this picturesque village outside peak hours, drawn by the scenery and the low-key atmosphere.
Linger at The River Cafe
For a front-row seat to all the village’s comings and goings, The River Cafe is one of the best spots in Bourton-on-the-Water, with tables overlooking the River Windrush and its main river crossing. It’s ideal for lingering over lunch while watching village life unfold. It’s a modest-looking place, with exceptional views and great food; the traditional English breakfast is a must-try.

Arlington Row, Bibury: An iconic film location

Arlington Row in Bibury is one of the Cotswolds’ most recognisable filming locations, instantly familiar thanks to its line of 14th-century weavers’ cottages running alongside the River Coln. The row has appeared on screen in films such as Stardust (starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro) and the most recent Bridget Jones’s Diary – Mad About the Boy, as well as in various period dramas and fantasy series, including Doctor Who and Merlin.
Now owned by the National Trust, Arlington Row remains a working, lived-in place; most cottages are private homes, which only adds to its authenticity. Its quintessentially British appearance has made it one of the most photographed spots in the UK – even earning a place inside the British passport.
Film set interiors at Eleven Bibury

Housed in historic stone premises overlooking the River Coln, this cafe-cum-restaurant serves seasonal dishes, speciality coffee and freshly made brunches and light lunches, all with carefully sourced ingredients and presented with plenty of Cotswold charm.
With its proximity to Bibury’s iconic filming backdrop, and its own incredible interiors, it’s also a natural pause on a celeb-spotting in one of England’s most photographed villages.

Tetbury and Rivals filming locations

Finally, if you were gripped by last year’s adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s Rivals, Tetbury deserves a spot on your Cotswolds itinerary. The elegant Gloucestershire town doubled as the fictional village of Cotchester, with cast and crew transforming Long Street into a full 1980s-inspired set. Several recognisable locations feature prominently. Berkeley House at 16 The Chipping, a striking Grade II-listed property, stood in for Cameron Cook’s home.
For anyone staying at Bluewood Lodges, Tetbury makes an easy and stylish day trip, particularly if you’re keen to walk in the footsteps of Rupert Campbell-Black and company before series two lands.
For dinner, head to Lola & Co, a relaxed and elegant spot with friendly and accommodating staff.
